About us

The Law Society's Competition Section is a practitioner network whose primary mission is:

  • to promote discussion and understanding of competition law issues that are of interest to the profession in the UK and Brussels
  • to promote closer links and candid dialogue between members of the profession and officials in the relevant institutions.

In carrying out this mission, the Section will build on the legacy of the LSEG as a well-established and key froum - both in London and Brussels - for discussion of recent developments in the UK and EU competition law policy, practice and procedure.

We aim to achieve these aims through activities including:

  • evening meetings in the UK and Brussels and the flagship annual conference, which provide the chance to learn about new developments first hand from the people who are making policy at the agencies and working on the leading cases, including senior agency officials, barristers, economists and other leading practitioners;
  • an annual dinner where members will hear distinguished speakers from government and the authorities;
  • an informative journal, “Lawyers’ Europe”;
  • opportunites to engage with other members and officials of the UK and EU competition authorities.
